Zaventem, Belgium 12 April 2022 - Digital fiberoptic connectivity and cloud infra solutions provider Eurofiber today announced that construction has begun on a major new 80 km addition to its fiber network in Belgium. Scheduled for completion in early 2023, the project, which has been commissioned by a leading global cloud provider, will link two points on the existing Eurofiber network, creating a new 120 km fiber ring servicing the Brussels-Ghent-Antwerp triangle, the economic heart of Belgium.
The new Belgian ring will provide capacity on a full 144-fiberoptic cable which passes through five of Belgium’s leading business parks. It will also connect three data centers - LCL West in Aalst, Interxion Digital Realty BRU4 in Zaventem in the East and a new EdgeConnex facility in Ternat.
“This latest expansion shows that Eurofiber continues to grow fast organically as well as inorganically, from a national provider to a pan-European player,” said Rhoderick van der Wyck, Managing Director International Business at Eurofiber.
“Digital transformation is accelerating in Belgium, driven by leading businesses that need new high quality fiber routes to improve local performance and extend their ecosystems into areas that used to be off-net.”
