Maarssen/Diegem, June 5, 2015 – Eurofiber has reached an agreement with Syntigo on the acquisition of B-Telecom for a sum of 33 million euros. The acquisition includes all Syntigo’s fiber-optic activities. The transaction is expected to close at the end of July, at which time all employees of B-Telecom will transfer to Eurofiber Belgium.
The acquisition enables Eurofiber to expand its existing fiber-optic network capacity in Belgium by 7,500 km, giving the company a nationwide network in Belgium to match its national coverage in the Netherlands. Customers and partners will benefit from this increased network coverage, and will continue to be able to use Eurofiber’s open access network which allows them the freedom to choose their own IT and telecom service providers.
Alex Goldblum, CEO of Eurofiber: “We are delighted with this transaction. Our ambition is to be a national provider of fiber-optic connectivity for the business market in Belgium with a unique proposition – our open network.”
Lars Alkema, Managing Director Eurofiber Belgium: “We have aimed since inception to grow in Belgium organically as well as through mergers and acquisitions. This transaction represents an important step on our path to becoming market leader in dark fiber services in Belgium and to securing a top three position in fiber-based transmission services.”
