“We receive 3,200 calls a day on average, and as many as 5,100 at peak times,” says Sebastiaan Tabak, Senior Service Engineer at Independer. The search for suitable fiber optic solutions and the necessary flexibility
In 2015, Independer began the search for a replacement for the managed fiber-optic lines. Tabak: “Over the course of three months, we asked a total of four parties to present their solution. Eurofiber clinched the tender by offering the right financial terms as well as the flexibility we were looking for.”
Independer opted for Layer 2 connectivity, with the datacenters via the Ethernet VPN platform that Eurofiber provides on its fiber-optic network. The 1 Gb/s connections handle ‘regular data traffic’ as well as telephony.

Optical fiber offers solid basis for further growth
Independer is reaping the benefits of Eurofiber’s fiber-optic connections, says Tabak. “We now have greater flexibility in terms of expanding the network, for example. Instead of having to contact the service provider for this, as used to be the case, we can now make any necessary add-ons ourselves. Added to that, the overall cost scenario is more favourable.”
Tabak also speaks positively about the cooperation with the Eurofiber organisation as a whole. “It’s the same type of company as ours: uncomplicated and easily accessible. What’s more, they’re always willing to share ideas with us. For instance, December sees the start of our busiest time of year. We asked Eurofiber for an elevated SLA for this period. Not only did they arrange this without delay, they also extended the improved SLA to cover the entire year - at no extra cost.”
