Dataplace acquires Datacenter Arnhem

THIS ACQUISITION PROVIDES DATAPLACE WITH A THIRD CARRIER-NEUTRAL TIER III DATACENTER

Summary

Alblasserdam, 8 June 2017: Dataplace, part of the Eurofiber Group, has reached an agreement with the shareholders of Datacenter Arnhem to acquire 100% of the shares as of Tuesday, 6 June 2017. This acquisition enables Dataplace to add a third datacenter location to its position in the regional datacenter market, in response to the increasing need for high-quality regional datacenter capacity. Eric van Scherpenzeel, co-founder of Datacenter Arnhem, will continue to play an active role at Dataplace and retains his responsibility for the location in Arnhem.

Datacenter Arnhem has been an independent provider of reliable datacenter services in the eastern region of the Netherlands since 2010 through its SOC 2 certified datacenter. From this location, the datacenter provides its services to the Dutch and German markets. Located about 60 km from the Datacenter Utrecht location, Datacenter Arnhem is the perfect addition to the company’s existing datacenter activities. In the next few years, Dataplace will make significant investments in the Arnhem location to continue optimizing its high-quality digital infrastructure.

Gerben van der Veen, Managing Director of Dataplace: “We are very pleased that Dataplace now also has a great location in Arnhem at its disposal. Dataplace Arnhem is a robust datacenter with a proven track record of 100% uptime. It is home to an excellent portfolio of enterprise, government and IT customers, and provides us with the chance to realize continued growth in the east of the Netherlands, in order to provide a better response to the requirements of our current and new customers. The acquisition provides added value to our customers, for instance by offering our other datacenters as twin locations in the middle and west of the Netherlands.”

Alex Goldblum, CEO of the Eurofiber Group, considers the acquisition of Datacenter Arnhem as a logical step, following the acquisition of Dataplace Rotterdam in 2016. By adding a third location in Arnhem, Eurofiber Group increases the availability of its co-location services in the east of the Netherlands. The company is responding to a continued surge in demand for open, digital infrastructure from companies, government authorities and IT service providers for outsourcing, hybrid cloud solutions, smart cities and more.

The contract is signed by Jan-Joost Galesloot, Eric van Scherpenzeel (Datacenter Arnhem) and Gerben van der Veen (Managing Director of Dataplace).
